What is the company background?

Leonards was established in 1998 and has successfully grown to become one of the UK’s leading corporate investigation and litigation support firm. The company was originally set up as a sole trader entity by current Managing Director Derek Connelly. The business is now a UK Ltd company and has offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Belfast with clients ranging from the legal, insurance, financial and corporate sectors as well as local and central government departments.

Is your industry regulated?

The corporate investigation industry is not yet regulated however this has been an ongoing issue in parliament for some time now. In view of this, the industry is constantly under scrutiny and therefore we ensure our enquiries are undertaken legally, ethically and morally and in line with both our own and our clients policies and procedures. We take our own reputation and more importantly our clients reputation very seriously. We take compliance very seriously and train all staff on legislation issues relating to our industry including The Human Rights Act, Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act and The Data Protection Act. We are registered data controllers with the ICO and are regularly assessed and audited by our clients on our policies and procedures to ensure our standards are kept at a very high level.

Do you cover all of the UK?

Yes, we are a nationwide company with offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Belfast as well as operatives throughout the UK, including Northern Ireland.

What insurances and licences do you hold?

We have professional indemnity cover and employer/public liability insurance. We are registered data controllers and hold a Data Protection Licence.

What training do your operatives have?

Our team is diverse and far-ranging, however all are trained in-house regardless of their background or impressive CV’s. All staff are trained on both our own and our clients policies and procedures and are fully compliant with Human Rights Legislation, RIPA and Data Protection Legislation. We have specialist surveillance teams trained to gather evidence in both civil and criminal enquiries. Our tracing teams specialise in locating personal and corporate intelligence for use in litigation cases and are able to interrogate data from public sources and on-line credit reference/social media accounts with expertise. Our computer forensic teams are specialists in the interrogation of computer software and have relevant IT qualifications to undertake these tasks effectively and efficiently.

How confidential is the information you hold?

Confidentiality is paramount to our business. All intelligence gained will be securely stored within our premises and recorded data stored in fireproof safes. Any data or intelligence we hold for you will be kept and stored in line with Data Protection Legislation and will only be used or disclosed by a court order or on the instructions of the client. Data held with be stored on secure password protected drives and backed up over secure protected facilities.

How much do you charge and what type of payment do you accept?

Payment can be made in cash, BACS, Cheque or credit and debit cards. The professional fees depend on the service provided and how much time, searches and manpower is involved. Fixed fees are offered on all services including litigation support services, surveillance and computer forensics. Contact us directly for details of the fixed fee services.

Do you operate outwith normal business hours?

Yes, we operate on a 24hr basis. The telephone number on our website 0333 207 0907 is operational outwith normal business hours.

What methods do you use to undertake the work?

We are a professional, compliant and legitimate business. All investigations are done ethically and in line with UK legislation. Our experienced employees come from investigation backgrounds and we use their expertise and DPA approved intelligence gathering systems to achieve our aims.

Do you have male and female operatives?

Yes, we employ a number of male and female operatives. This gives us a competitive edge over our rivals and allows us to conduct specific cases easier as a “couple” appears less suspicious in certain scenarios compared to two men or women.

What is your success rate?

We have a very high success rate in achieving our client’s goals. Our success rate in tracing people and assets in very high at 92%.
